You’re Going to Love the New Features of the 2021 Nissan Altima

Nissan Knows How to Make a Great Vehicle Even Better

While only receiving a full redesign just three years ago, the folks at Nissan saw an opportunity to bring fresh updates to the 2021 Altima. The 2021 model year adds the choice between two engines and two drivetrains, adds the Altima SR grade level and SV Premium Package (and repositions the other grade levels; more on that below), and so much more.

Tri-State Nissan, conveniently located in Winchester, is proud to have the 2021 Nissan Altima in stock. Stop by today to take it for a test drive and find out in person why this sedan is a smart and fun-to-drive pick for Virginia drivers.

Technology and Safety Updates Abound

Modern drivers in and around Winchester will appreciate the technology upgrades of the 2021 Altima. Nissan Intelligent Mobility returns with features such as available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability as well as available ProPILOT Assist, an available driver assist package which aids with acceleration, braking, and steering in a variety of conditions to help keep you safe on the road.

What’s more, Automatic Emergency Braking, Intelligent Driver Alertness, and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning all come standard across all grade levels, as does a Bluetooth hands-free phone system, Siri Eyes-Free Voice Recognition, Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant, and Bluetooth audio streaming.

Speaking of safety features, even more are available with the 2021 Altima. Nissan Safety Shield 360, which includes such features as Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Blind-Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and High Beam Assist, is now available on all five grade levels of the Altima. And standard on the Altima Platinum is Nissan’s Intelligent Around View Monitor, which provides a near-360-degree view of your surroundings.

Updated Grades and Design Features

As mentioned earlier, the grades have been updated for the 2021 Nissan Altima. The addition of the sporty Altima SR grade sees it moving above the SV grade. This means the grades have been revised as follows: S, SV, SR, SL, and Platinum, which now matches what’s offered with other Nissan sedans. The SR grade Altima adds a sport suspension, 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels, paddle shifters, sport seats, exhaust finishers, and so much more.

With the addition of the SR grade comes the arrival of the world’s first production variable compression turbo inline 4-cylinder engine—the 2.0-liter VCT Turbo. This new engine serves up white-knuckle performance when it’s added to the SR grade Altima. All other grade levels come equipped with a refined 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that nets an impressive, EPA-estimated, up to 39 MPG highway. Of all the new features included with the 2021 Nissan Altima, perhaps the most important is the arrival of Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. It’s the first all-wheel drive system offered with a Nissan sedan in the U.S. All-wheel drive is available with SV, SR, SL, and Platinum grade levels.

When it comes to design, the 2021 Altima remains a sleek and stylish option that stands out from other sedans in its class. The two engine options are low-profile, lending to a lower, more athletic stance. Eye-catching paint options are also available, as are a variety of exterior customizations like a dark chrome V-Motion grille.

Inside, it’s all about comfort and panache; each Altima comes standard with a power driver’s seat, a “gliding wing” instrument panel, flowing lines, and premium materials throughout.

What’s New From the 2020 Model Year

While the 2020 Nissan Altima is certainly a terrific vehicle, there are a few differences between it and the 2021 model. As mentioned earlier, the arrival of the 2.0-liter VCT Turbo engine and Intelligent All-Wheel Drive are paramount. Also, the addition of the athletic new SR grade level and the feature-packed SL Platinum Package give drivers even more choices.

A few changes to the suspension of the 2021 Altima help it stand out over the 2020 model. The 2021 Altima now comes equipped with monotube rear shocks, added suspension reinforcements, and suspension geometry adjustments, all of which lend to a more responsive ride. That’s not all: the base-model S grade gets even more standard driver assistance features and Remote Engine Start, and other trim levels receive more standard equipment, too.
