The Nissan service center at our Winchester car dealership tries to give you the best service we can provide. In line with that tradition, we’ve tried to answer many of the most frequently asked questions we get regarding auto repair. Hopefully you find these helpful.

Warranty FAQs

  • What is the Nissan Lifetime Powertrain Warranty? The Nissan Factory Powertrain Warranty covers your car for 5 years or 60,000 miles. When it expires, the Nissan Lifetime Powertrain Warranty kicks into effect and offers you a grand amount of coverage for your vehicle.
  • What’s included in the Nissan Lifetime Powertrain Warranty? Included are coverage for your engine, transmission, trans-axle, drivetrain and a $100 deductible. Broken down all of the components covered include:
    • Engine: intake manifold timing gears and gaskets, timing chain/belt and cover, flywheel, cylinder block and head and all internal parts, valve covers, oil pan, oil pump, engine mounts, engine control computer, water pump, turbocharger housing and all internal parts, supercharger housing and all internal parts, fuel pump, seals and gaskets.
    • Transmission & Trans-Axle: Case and all internal parts, transfer case and all internal parts, engine control computer, torque converter, clutch cover, transmission mounts, seals and gaskets.
    • Front-Wheel Drive System: Final drive housing & all internal parts, axle shaft, drive shaft, bearings, supports, propeller shaft, u-joints, seals and gaskets.
    • Rear-Wheel Drive System: Axle housing & all internal parts, axle shaft, drive shaft, propeller shaft, bearings, supports, u-joints, seals and gaskets.
    • Deductible: $100 is the amount you pay for covered repairs.
  • Do I have to use the manufacturer’s original equipment parts to keep my warranty valid? Legally, no, you may use any part you like to service your vehicle. It is illegal for automakers to specify which parts you must use. However, we highly recommend using genuine Nissan parts for any of your auto repair to ensure your vehicle runs at peak performance.
  • What do I have to do to keep my vehicle’s warranty in effect? Service your vehicle at regular intervals as specified in the owner’s manual or warranty booklet. Keep records of your vehicle’s maintenance including the date, parts installed, vehicle identification number (VIN) and mileage recorded on the invoice. Keep your receipts, and we highly recommend you use the service log in the owner’s manual or warranty booklet if you have one.

Service FAQs

  • What parts should be replaced and at what intervals should these services be performed? Check your owner’s manual for all of the information you’ll need regarding specific parts and service intervals. Your warranty may be voided if you don’t follow the suggestions offered in the manual, so follow it carefully.
  • My car is a leased vehicle. Am I responsible for maintenance? Yes. As outlined in the owner’s manual, you are responsible for all maintenance and repairs required to keep the vehicle in good working order.

Maintenance FAQs

  • How often should I rotate my tires? Every 6,000 miles. Neglecting to rotate your tires can result in premature tire wear.
  • Is it really necessary to replace my timing belt at the recommended interval? Yes. Check your owner’s manual for the recommended interval. Failure to replace your timing belt can result in severe engine damage.
  • What should I do if my car starts to overheat? Driving an overheated car for too long can cause serious engine damage. Swiftly pull off the road. If you have engine coolant, wait until your car cools down before checking if your car is low on coolant and proceed to add some if necessary. This may fix your issue. If you aren’t comfortable doing this yourself, seek to get your car to the nearest auto repair facility.
  • How often should I get my oil changed? Schedule oil change service every 5,000 miles or as often as recommended in your owner’s manual.
